during this season of resurrection and renewal, bE.kON is engaging in conversations around what it looks like to live the resurrection. after a season of lent in which we explored grief and loss we now begin to explore how to live on the other side of those experiences, whilst often continuing to live in places of pain. to this end, we are each bringing stories, images, ideas, objects that symbolize and represent what it means to live the resurrection for us personally. so, each thursday bring an artifact of the resurrection from your own lived experience or hopes/dreams from the week. or you can post them to our blog or facebook page.

Lenten Journey

This Thursday we continue our journey into loss with the experience of anger. If there are things that are helpful for you in terms of expressing or processing anger, please bring those items and thoughts. What does anger look for us individually and collectively? Are there losses that we are angry about that we can express with each other? How did the disciples deal with the pending loss of their teacher? How did Jesus himself express anger with loss? We’ll gather and try to begin around 7:00pm again.

worship at St. Peter’s Episcopal this Sunday

Thanks for those who came to Trinity on Sunday. Every time I am in that space, my imagination runs wild with all the ways it could be used creatively and developing a relationship there would simply be a gateway to doing just that.

This week, we’ll be visiting St. Peter Episcopal in the International District. St. Peter’s is a traditionally Japanese American Episcopal church, but with the neighborhoods around the building changing, the demographic of the church is slowly changing as well. I have not been to one of their liturgies yet, so I’m looking forward to the experience. I will give Fr. James a heads up we’ll be coming and maybe he’ll want to meet with us, so I’ll let you all know if that happens.

reflections on Insurrection

I don’t know if anyone has started reading Pete Rollins’ book Insurrection yet and if there are any thoughts on it at this point. So if you haven’t started it yet, go ahead and get into the Introduction and first chapter if you can. I’m also wondering if this blog might be a good place to interact with some of the ideas in the book or if another space might be better suited for that. Let Jon know your thoughts.

thursday gathering

bE.kON will be gathering on Thursday for evening meditation, reflection and conversation. Members of our collective will be bringing personal reflections from poems, writings and other works that have a connection with some vision of what s/he hopes for in their life from the faith collective. We will begin using the Evening Prayer service from the Northumbria Community to mark this season.

new format for emails

Jon has been up to no good lately tinkering with a new website and attempting to integrate said website with our weekly email and facebook page. So here’s the first attempt at it. Basically, the weekly update is now generated via blog posts on the website and is also automatically posted on the facebook page. This will create a lot more communication avenues with less work. Funny how technology works like that huh? At any rate, this will create some redundancy, but please don’t unsubscribe from the emails even though you can get them via the blog and facebook because there will be specific emails that might need to go out other than the weekly email. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, let me know what bugs need to be worked out on this new system.
